"Volunteering is a simple act. But for us, and those we support, it’s a lifeline. Literally."
We are so grateful for all those who give their precious time to support us. People volunteer for many different reasons, but one thing unites us all. Our passion to make a real difference.
Our diverse family of volunteers make it possible for CANW to continue our critical work – and they all bring something different and unique to our work.
Whether you want to gain new skills and experiences, help your community, fundraise or simply keep busy – you’re welcome at CANW.
Ways to help
There are many ways you can help. Here are a few of them.
Run a fundraising event
Use your creative flair and organisational skills to set up a fundraising event. Host a charity football match, a pub quiz or a bake sale…
Volunteer with our young people
Could you support us to deliver life changing support to our young people or provide opportunities for them to learn and grow?
Fundraising speaker
Want to spread the message? As a CANW speaker, you could coordinate and host talks to local schools, groups and societies about our history and the work we do.
Bucket Collection
Maybe you could help run local bucket collections in your local community? This is a great way to help us spread the word about CANW. A simple way to fundraise which puts the charity in front of a potentially large audience and helps raise the profile of our work.
Set up a fundraising group
Are you a creative talent? Come up with fundraising ideas that you can put into action. Get together with family, friends or colleagues and help inspire us all!
Our Volunteer Coordinator
My story
Hi, my name is Ruth Abram, and I am the Volunteer Coordinator at Child Action Northwest. I’ve been in my role since August 2025 and have gained invaluable experience in helping children and organising volunteers for events. It’s already a rewarding, fulfilling journey and I’m passionate about making a difference.
My role at Child Action Northwest
As the Volunteer Coordinator, I recruit, train and mentor our volunteers. I make sure every volunteer has the opportunity not work within their chosen area tailoring their skills, so they get to access and achieve the very best on their CANW journey. I love working within our dedicated team to bring positive change to our community and help children, young people and families.
