Our Voice Service

Reason for Referral:

The young person is currently in care following experiences of abuse within their family of origin. These early experiences significantly affected their sense of safety, emotional expression, and ability to trust others. The young person was referred to the Our Voice service to support emotional wellbeing, build self-understanding, and develop healthier relationship patterns.

The Our Voice service offers weekly therapeutic sessions, providing a consistent, confidential, and emotionally safe space. This regular support enables young people to explore difficult thoughts and feelings at their own pace, knowing they are listened to and supported without judgement.

Intervention:

During a recent session, therapeutic work focused on relationships and attachment using a structured, creative activity. This allowed the young person to visually explore trust, emotional closeness, and feelings of safety in relationships. Initially, they found it difficult to identify anyone they felt fully safe with. With sensitive guidance, the young person was able to reflect on how earlier experiences may have shaped their emotional responses and expectations of others.

Measurable Outcomes:

As a result of this work, the young person demonstrated increased emotional insight and an improved ability to recognise patterns in their relationships. They were able to make meaningful connections between past experiences and present feelings, supporting greater self-awareness and emotional literacy.

The Our Voice service continues to provide ongoing therapeutic support, offering a reliable weekly space where the young person feels safe, heard, and supported. This consistent intervention promotes emotional resilience, self-understanding, and the development of healthier relational boundaries over time.
