£3000 has been raised thanks to the support and fundraising efforts of the individual junior football teams involved. Vital funds that will help support the crucial work both Child Action North West and Blackburn Rovers Community Trust do daily.

Georgia Murphy, Fundraising & Events Lead of CANW commented:

“What a fantastic weekend! Firstly a huge thank you to all of the teams that took part, the coaches and families who came to support them, and Blackburn Rovers Community Trust for helping to run another successful tournament. The Orphanage cup has been running for 92 years and we are honored to run this tournament and keep the legacy of our beloved ‘Trevor Booth’ alive. Seeing over 200 young people taking part, having fun in the sun (Saturday) and laughing in the rain (Sunday), raising vital funds for the two charities was really special.”

Chris McGrail, Football Development Manager of BRCT commented:

“It was an absolute pleasure to be invited to be a part of the Junior Orphanage Cup. To have the chance to work with the team at Child Action North West so closely was amazing. I want to say thank you to every club, parent/guardian, coach, referee, venue host and players who supported the tournament. All the funds raised will help support vital community-focused work in Blackburn with Darwen. Overall, it was a successful weekend of football for a fantastic cause.”
