Carrying all my belongings and tent on my back!
The South West Coast Path is a 630 mile (1,014km) National Trail that runs from Minehead in Somerset, along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, concluding in Poole Harbour (Dorset). I will be tackling these 630 miles for the Child Action North West Charity, whilst carrying all my belongings and tent on my back!
This walk will be a growing experience alongside an opportunity for me to challenge my own mental and physical health. On reflection of my own childhood struggles, I realised how important a safe space is for children and adolescents to enable them to talk and be supported. Growing up I found it difficult to discuss my childhood struggles, maybe due to a lack of local accessible support, stigma, or the potential damage to future career opportunities. However, when the conversation started, so did my personal growth. Through the support of the NHS, some great friends, and my own determination I have managed to work through these past traumas and can now begin the next chapter of my life.

And what better way to start than by doing something to help others? Child Action North West is a charity that works locally throughout Rossendale and Lancashire by providing care and support to those throughout their crucial development years.
“At Child Action North West, we offer support to the most vulnerable children and young people in local communities; children facing poverty, violence, abuse, neglect and family breakdown. The Coronavirus crisis means additional: isolation, fear and uncertainty.”
As someone who experienced previous mental health struggles during childhood I personally resonate with this charity and the wonderful work it does. Child Action North West highlights the importance of providing and having a safe space for children and adolescents to be heard and supported. I personally believe this safe space is crucial for a child/adolescents mental and physical development and wellbeing. If you agree with these beliefs, any and all donations are massively appreciated by myself and Child Action North West. Know that your money will be helping the children and adolescents who need it most in your local area!
